Theories

In class we have been studying 'German Expressionism' which consequently bought on 'Distortion' which is angles and shadows being distorted to make them larger and more scary:- GEOMETRIC PATTERN. This is a theory we should consider as it would fit perfectly in with our thriller genre. We should plan out in consideration where the camera needs to be placed so that interesting angles are created on screen. Distortion is also a clever way of making objects appear larger than they truly are.


Levi Strauss was most noted for his theory of binary oppositions; a pair of theoretical opposites. In a thriller genre this could be the ugly vs. the beautiful or the smart vs. the scruffy.

A fabula is the whole story before, during and after what we see or hear.
Whereas for our trailer we will only get the chance to demonstrate the 'syuzhet' which is only the events we see or hear within the field of vision.
